Giant Pandas /

English

Giant pandas are one of China's most famous animals. They live in mountain forests in Sichuan, Shaanxi, and Gansu provinces.
The most special feature of giant pandas is their black-and-white fur — their bodies are white, and their legs, ears, and the areas around their eyes are black. This makes them look very cute.
Giant pandas love to eat bamboo. They eat a lot of bamboo every day — about 12 to 38 kilograms. Because bamboo is not very nutritious, they need to eat a lot, and after eating they often rest and sleep.
Giant pandas live alone and do not like to share their home with other pandas. Each panda has its own fixed living area and uses scent to mark its territory.
Giant pandas are China's national treasure. They are also listed as "vulnerable" by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN). The Chinese government and many conservation organisations are working hard to protect giant pandas and their habitats.
Now, the number of wild giant pandas is slowly increasing — this is very good news!
